Now here is truck steeped in family history, a farm truck from south Georgia. I had purchased this vehicle believing it was a 56 truck, But upon closer inspection. I have found this truck to be a 57, The grille and fender emblems being dead giveaways. This is pile of parts was originally going to be restored by the original owners daughter and son-in-law. But as with most projects folks take on they are bit more than they can chew on. They had started by having the truck sand blasted and then put in primer. After this the truck was allowed to rest for few years. At some point in time it was pulled from it’s interment in a barn. It has traveled many miles and has had rough life I am sure! I wish I could hear its stories!
When I picked it up I was told it had been scavenged by thieves, many parts missing among those the driver door the front end and a rear fender. Surely a challenging project. But, it is fortunate that the popularity of the Chevy Pickup has far from waned. Many parts are available as reproduction pieces and many sheet metal stampings and repair pieces are available today. Good news for this Work Horse Veteran!
So stay vigilant as I work through this to resurrect this once down-trotten beast of burden. It will be new refreshed and updated. The beautiful style and classic lines will remain the same. As with my word; I have agreed to offer the gentleman I purchased this from first chance at reclaiming his families history.
